Frequently asked questions

What is a Google Place ID and where do I find it?
A Place ID is the unique code Google gives every business listing. It usually starts with ChIJ. Open Google's Place ID Finder, search for your business name, click your listing on the map and copy the Place ID shown in the box.
Can I paste my g.page or Google Maps link instead?
If it is your g.page/r/.../review link, yes, it is already a direct review link and we use it as is. Plain business links (g.page/your-name) and short maps.app.goo.gl links do not contain the Place ID in a form we can read without contacting Google, so use the Place ID Finder for those.
What does the link do when a customer opens it?
It opens the "write a review" box for your business in Google Maps or Search. The customer needs to be signed in to a Google account to post.
Does the QR code expire or track my customers?
No. It is a static code that contains the review link itself. It works as long as the link does, and nothing is tracked or stored by us. Everything is generated in your browser.
Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?
Google's policy forbids paying for or offering incentives in exchange for reviews, so ask politely and do not reward them. Asking happy customers at the right moment, such as after a finished job, is the safest approach.
How big should I print the QR code?
Large enough to scan from where people stand. About 2 cm (0.8 in) is a practical minimum; bigger is better on flyers and invoices. Keep strong contrast between the code and its background, which is why the default is dark on white.
